Senior Platform Security Engineer

Overview Join the Senior Platform Security Engineer team at Affirm . The Security team strengthens risk posture while enabling secure access for the organization. Ideal candidates possess extensive experience building tooling and infrastructure for securing technical resources across a large team. Responsibilities Drive infrastructure, network and perimeter security initiatives for hardening and segmentation. Work across multiple engineering functions and organizations to advocate for security practices. Influence, align and implement security features across engineering teams. Design and develop scalable solutions across multiple domains. Configure and implement cloud security services including identity, access, detective controls, infrastructure protection and data protection. Specify, standardize, configure and validate access controls across cloud services and integrate security tooling into existing infrastructure. Develop security software configurations and improve tool functionality over time. Implement security controls across data infrastructure (S3, DynamoDB, RDS, Snowflake). Decompose large cross‑team projects into individual tasks, manage scope and drive project closure. Qualifications Track record of tackling difficult, ambiguous challenges and driving to success. Adaptability in a complex, ever‑changing environment balancing security risks and business agility. Strong knowledge in infrastructure operations (networking, systems, storage), Corporate IT and technical trade‑offs between short and long‑term security decisions. Hands‑on experience deploying infrastructure in a Kubernetes environment. Experience developing and deploying cloud services using Terraform. Understanding of auditing usage and access to AWS cloud services. Experience managing security tooling such as Wiz, Auditbeat, CrowdStrike Falcon EDR, AWS System Manager Agent. BS degree in a related field; MS degree is a plus. Pay & Equity Pay grade: N. Equity grade: 6. Base pay range: $150,000 – $200,000 per year. Total compensation may include monthly stipends for health, wellness and tech spending, and potential equity rewards. 100% subsidized medical coverage and other benefits are available.
