Our Challenge:

We are seeking a highly skilled Lead Python Developer to join our talented team. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in software development with Python, strong leadership capabilities, and a passion for creating innovative solutions. As a Lead Python Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality software applications while leading a team of developers to achieve project goals.

Additional Information*

The base salary for this position will vary based on geography and other factors. In accordance with law, the base salary for this role if filled within Mississauga, ON is CAD $110k-$130k/year & benefits (see below).

The Role

Responsibilities:

  • Design and Development: Lead the design, development, and implementation of scalable and efficient Python applications, ensuring adherence to best practices and coding standards.
  • Team Leadership: Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of Python developers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment.
  • Architecture: Collaborate with architects and stakeholders to define application architecture and technical specifications, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
  • Code Review: Conduct code reviews to ensure quality, maintainability, and performance of the codebase, providing constructive feedback to team members.
  • Project Management: Participate in project planning and estimation, working closely with project managers and other stakeholders to deliver projects on time and within scope.
  • Testing and Debugging: Oversee the development of automated test cases and ensure thorough testing of applications to identify and fix bugs before deployment.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay up to date with emerging technologies and industry trends, making recommendations for improvements and innovations in the development process.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and QA, to deliver high-quality software solutions.
  • Documentation: Ensure proper documentation of software design and development processes, including technical specifications, API documentation, and user manuals.

Requirements:

You are:

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Master's degree preferred.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience in software development with a strong focus on Python.
  • Proven experience in leading development teams and managing software projects.
  • Strong knowledge of Python frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask) and libraries.
  • Experience with database technologies (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL, NoSQL databases).
  • Familiarity with front-end technologies (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript) is a plus.
  • Understanding of RESTful API design and development.
  • Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure.

  • Experience with data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Familiarity with agile development methodologies.
  • Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in the data engineering community.
