About the Role: Grade Level (for internal use): 10 Company: S&P Global Corporate The Role: Cloud Engineer Location: Calgary, Canada (2-3 days onsite a week) The Team: S&P Global Enterprise Data Organization The Impact: As a Cloud Engineer in our Canada team, you will support and expand our cloud infrastructure, manage monitoring and alerting frameworks, lead onboarding and migration projects, and collaborate with DevOps, QA, and development teams. You will deliver secure, structured automated solutions that drive operational excellence. Responsibilities Collaborate with software development teams to improve application reliability, performance, security, and scalability. Provide BAU production support, resolving issues identified by monitoring or reported by users before business impact. Develop scripts in Terraform, Python, and Unix shell to automate tasks and streamline processes. Design, implement, and manage infrastructure using Terraform on AWS while following best practices. Write database queries and perform database management; experience with Document‑Oriented Databases and AWS storage solutions is an advantage. Set up and configure monitoring solutions, including Grafana, PagerDuty, and Splunk, to ensure system health and respond to incidents promptly. Occasionally participate in weekend production releases/deployments and coordinate handovers with teams in Europe and Asia during early mornings or late afternoons. 3>What We’re Looking For Basic Qualifications 4‑6 years of relevant DevOps and Software Engineering experience. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field; relevant certifications are a plus. Proven experience with AWS cloud technologies, GitHub, Terraform, and CI/CD pipelines. Familiarity with databases and database queries; Document‑Oriented Database experience preferred. Experience with monitoring/logging solutions such as PagerDuty, Splunk, and other industry standards. Linux and networking knowledge; good understanding of AWS network configurations (routing, DNS, load balancing, IAM, security groups). Demonstrated problem‑solving ability and proactive approach to resolving issues and identifying improvement opportunities. Adaptability to a dynamic work environment and ability to manage multiple priorities. Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to speak to technical business audiences. Capacity to work independently or lead a team on improvement projects. Preferred Qualifications AWS Certified DevOps Engineer, Open‑Source Containerization tools certifications, Document‑Oriented Database certifications preferred.
