Detailed Overview Supporting the Vision, Values, Purpose and Commitments of Fraser Health including service delivery that is centered around patients/clients/residents and families. Reporting to the Executive Director, People Health, Well‑being vēl Safety, the Director, Well‑being and Safety is accountable for the strategic development, implementation, evaluation and sustainment of comprehensive health, well‑being and safety management systems. The suite of services includes but is not limited to traditional health and safety, occupational health, psychological health, well‑being and safety of staff and medical staff across Fraser Health. The Director ensures industry‑leading best practice development and implementation of effective well‑being, safety, and prevention strategies Resolve, policies, processes and initiatives that achieve the alignment of Well‑being and Safety services with Fraser Health’s strategic and operational plans. The Director provides leadership for occupational health and safety programs by coordinating resources, advancing priorities, implementing policies and promoting collaboration and commitment for the delivery of Fraser Health’s Workplace Health Well‑being and Safety programs and services.配 The Director leads the development, implementation and evaluation of health, well‑being, and safety programs, services and initiatives that meet the unique needs of employees, volunteers, students and physicians. Advocates changes to regulation/legislation on behalf of the organization and mediates dispute resolutions concerning health, safety and claims issues with union’s and external organizations. Responsibilities Plans, develops and evaluates Fraser Health’s People Health, Well‑being and Safety Services that includes well‑being and safety regional initiatives such as violence prevention, psychological health and განცye, critical incident stress management, exposure, and ergonomics. Leads and directs the development and implementation of strategic goals, objectives, policies and procedures to meet current and future operational and strategic needs of the department and provincial strategic plans. Ensures compliance with applicable collective agreement provisions, government regulations, policies and procedures, national and provincial guidelines and other statutory requirements related to safety prevention and health. Provides overall leadership and direction to assigned staff using effective management techniques; hires, trains and supervises staff including conducting performance reviews, employee discipline; initiates terminations when appropriate. Reviews and approves budgets; monitors functional budget and is accountable for managing programs within allotted funds and allocates financial and human resources across programs/operations to meet service needs and fiscal mandates. Monitors trends in emerging well‑being and safety issues and participates as a member of the leadership team to assist in the development of new initiatives. Develops and implements industry‑leading tools, applications, systems, databases, and analytics to advance Fraser Health and the industry on reporting and tracking of workplace health well‑being and safety issues. Develops and maintains effective and collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders such as clients, unions, WorkSafeBC, regulatory bodies and associations to identify solutions that address needs and identify and reduce safety, violence, exposure, etc. incidents. Provides leadership for the development and advancement of enterprise Workplace Health Information systems (e.g. WHITE). Establishes and leads projects and industry initiatives including negotiating multi‑year agreements and developing provincial working groups. Represents People Health, Well‑being and Safety department on external committees. Qualifications Education and Experience Master’s degree in Occupational Health, Business Administration or related discipline plus ten (10) years recent, related progressively responsible leadership experience and proven expertise in a field of human resources or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Professional/Technical Capabilities Comprehensive knowledge of health and safety legislation, regulations, statutes, and collective agreements. Demonstrated knowledge of contemporary and best practice approaches in injury prevention, safety, well‑being and occupational health and wellness. Working knowledge of appropriate legislation and provincial/national standards on occupational health, safety and disability management. Demonstrated ability to initiate changes in policies, practices and behaviours in the workplace. Demonstrated superior negotiation, conflict management skills and judgement to facilitate consensus, persuade/negotiate effectively, and to implement service/organizational change and transition both internally and externally to the organization. Demonstrated ability to provide leadership to staff in the attainment of exceptional service, goals and objectives that are motivating, encouraging, and culturally sensitive. Demonstrated customer service and complaint resolution skills. Demonstrated proficiency in the use of a personal computer (PC) and applicable software applications. Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
