In this highly collaborative position, you will be the bridge between Product Development, Manufacturing Process Engineering, and our Global Manufacturing Sites. You will define and own the manufacturing process from start to finish, architecting Process Flow Diagrams, leading PFMEAs, and creating robust Control Plans. You will also collaborate with Product Development to design custom mechanical parts by analyzing part manufacturability, understanding supplier capabilities, and developing inspection criteria. Finally, you will be responsible for designing, verifying, and validating assembly fixtures and jigs as part of your world‑class manufacturing solution. The Manufacturing Process Development team's goal is to deliver complete manufacturing solutions that exceed customer expectations for Product Quality and Delivery. The Location Hexagon is a global company with locations worldwide. This position is based in Calgary, AB. Responsibilities Spearhead Design for Assembly (DFA) reviews, collaborating directly with Product Development Engineers and Production teams to optimize new product manufacturability and reduce assembly complexity. Develop and implement end‑to‑end (dock‑to‑dock) manufacturing solutions, owning key deliverables such as Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and other PPAP documentation. Design, source, build, and validate robust assembly fixtures, jigs, and tooling essential for a high‑quality, repeatable manufacturing process. Work with our supply chain and Product Development engineers to conduct rigorous Design for Manufacturability (DFM) analyses on custom mechanical parts, ensuring supplier capabilities align with our design requirements. Execute First Article Inspections (FAI) on custom components to formally validate supplier processes and part compliance. Conduct Prototype and Pilot builds to validate new manufacturing processes, leveraging data‑driven insights to proactively identify and resolve assembly challenges, refine product design, and validate process capability before mass production. Act as a key technical liaison to our Manufacturing Support team, applying structured problem‑solving to troubleshoot and resolve production challenges identified by our frontline teams. Drive a culture of Continuous Improvement and act as a key advocate for Lean Manufacturing principles, applying them to optimize assembly, design, and business processes. Qualifications Must‑Have Bachelor's Degree or Technical Diploma in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Industrial Engineering. 3+ years of hands‑on experience in a high‑tech electronics or electromechanical manufacturing environment. Proven track record in developing, launching, and supporting new manufacturing processes for complex products. Demonstrated experience in mechanical design (preferably fixtures, jigs, or tooling) and conducting process validation. Strong analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to use data to inform decisions, drive root‑cause analysis, and influence cross‑functional teams. Excellent organizational and project management skills, with an ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment. Superior communication skills, encompassing technical writing (reports, validation protocols, work instructions), and formal presentations. Proficiency with MS Office suite and 3D CAD software (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks). Ability to support international travel for up to one week at a time, approximately once per quarter.
