Project Engineer – Fisheries (Mid-Level) Kleinschmidt Associates – Halifax, Nova Scotia What We’re Looking For Licensed Professional Engineer (or commitment to becoming one) with a BEng and minimum 6 years experience in fisheries engineering or related field. Prior fisheries engineering experience preferred; structural (concrete & steel) design background acceptable. Knowledge of fisheries engineering guidelines, structural design standards, codes and hydraulic design principles. Experience designing structural components and/or performing hydraulic analysis as part of multidisciplinary teams. Familiarity with regulatory and permitting processes for fisheries projects is a plus. Skilled in Revit, MEP, or AutoCAD for 2‑D and 3‑D modeling. Experience collaborating with regulators, biologists, and other disciplines. Strong team player, excellent communication, ability to delegate and learn from senior staff. Additional Requirements Authorization to work in Canada and ability to obtain U.S. work authorization when needed. Willingness to travel and valid driver’s license. Maintain a PEng (or commit to licensure within a year); support for PDH/CPD and PEng provided. Typical Duties Serve as foundational role on multidisciplinary teams delivering fish passage projects. Perform structural design and/or hydraulic analysis in collaboration with civil, structural, hydraulics, geotechnical, mechanical, electrical engineering teams. Collaborate with designers and project managers to develop design drawings and regulatory submissions. Support construction and commissioning activities for fishway structures. Mentored by senior engineers and principals in fish passage, structural design and hydraulic analysis. Benefits Competitive salary: $102,000 – $120,000 CDN per year. Bonus program.
