The Associate Machine Learning Educator leverages their scientific knowledge to guide the exploration and development efforts of Amii's industry partners and clients, providing training, education, insight, and advice on early-stage ML development and strategy. The position focuses on achieving excellence in three main accountabilities: Client Success: Collaborate with Amii clients to build trust and drive the progress of their machine learning projects and capabilities. Machine Learning Expertise: Contribute Machine Learning expertise and stay current on the application of ML/AI in a broad range of technical areas and domains. Development & Delivery: Identify, build, maintain, and deliver engaging, relevant content that meets clients' needs in a blended learning environment. Key Responsibilities Required Skills / Expertise Client Success Serves as a trusted advisor and education facilitator to Startup clients, guiding them in identifying how AI and ML tools can effectively address their business challenges Leads Machine Learning Exploration workshops for Startup clients Fosters a supportive learning environment that encourages exploration and growth in AI literacy Provides training and guidance on machine learning concepts, strategies, and best practices Develops and nurtures strong relationships with clients through effective communication and scientific excellence Machine Learning Expertise Establishes themselves firmly as a trusted subject matter expert in startup business growth practices and machine learning techniques relevant to startups Advises clients on machine learning best practices and strategies to meet their objectives, enhancing client engagement Contributes to a positive team environment by actively participating in meetings, brainstorming sessions and activities Provides mentorship to technical peers, non-technical peers, and work integrated learning opportunity students (WILOs) Represents the organization at conferences, workshops, and industry events Development & Delivery Builds and delivers high-quality educational content to enhance AI literacy for organizations and individuals Facilitates group activities that encourage participation and collaboration among participants Stays current on the latest advancements in AI and machine learning to ensure training materials are current and relevant Gathers and reviews feedback from training participants to assess the effectiveness of educational programs Qualifications Post Secondary Degree in Machine Learning, Education, or related field 1-3+ years of applied AI experience Experience in building and delivering curriculum and designing effective learning exercises Proven ability to connect with diverse audiences and facilitate meaningful learning experiences Proficient in eLearning systems (i.e. Rise) Experience working at a startup or with startups (nice to have) Knowledge, Skills And Abilities (KSA) Organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders Demonstrates a positive, group-win approach and a willingness to help, learn, and share Collaborates with staff and experts, seeking input and support as needed Demonstrates independence, self-confidence, sound judgment, and superior problem-solving abilities Able to identify gaps in knowledge and triage their own learning appropriately Promotes high-level cross-functional collaboration and establishes credibility while influencing peers to achieve common goals What You\'ll Love About Us A professional yet casual work environment that encourages the growth and development of your skills Participate in professional development activities Gain access to the Amii community and events A chance to learn from amazing teammates who support one another to succeed Competitive compensation, including paid time off and flexible health benefits A modern office located in downtown Edmonton, Alberta About Amii One of Canada’s three main institutes for artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning, our world-renowned researchers drive fundamental and applied research at the University of Alberta (and other academic institutions), training some of the world’s top scientific talent.
