Child and Youth Counsellor EveryMind Mental Health Services (formerly Peel Children’s Centre) is looking for a committed and passionate Live‑in Treatment Counsellor. The role is based in Caledon South and supports children experiencing serious emotional, behavioural, or relationship difficulties in a safe, accepting, and supportive environment. Job Responsibilities Maintain the integrity of the live‑in treatment model by keeping up‑to‑date knowledge of client case histories and treatment plans. Collaborate with program staff, case managers, clinicians, and consultants to ensure effective implementation of treatment plans. Provide a safe, caring, therapeutic environment that respects cultural preferences. Facilitate treatment groups as needed. Transport clients as required and troubleshoot transportation issues. Support program operations by preparing meals and maintaining the program site. Dispense medications in accordance with physician orders. Complete clinical records and statistics following agency standards and timelines. Design and implement a crisis plan to ensure safety within the milieu setting. Maintain knowledge of and comply with relevant legislation, including health and safety regulations. Plan, coordinate, and participate in special events and recreational activities with clients. Skills and Qualifications Child & Youth Worker diploma with at least one year of related experience, or equivalent education and experience. Proven understanding of a milieu environment; ability to work independently and collaboratively. Strong engagement and assessment skills with clients and families. Comprehensive knowledge of mental health issues and trauma‑focused support. Capacity to apply a strengths‑based approach and trauma‑informed lens. Cultural competence to support diverse clients. Ability to assess, manage, and design crisis plans. Proficient with client care information systems and MS‑Office, Outlook, and Internet use. Valid G Class driver’s licence, Current First Aid Certification, and UMAB Certification. Successful Vulnerable Sector Police Check and Pre‑Employment Medical screening (including TB test, MMR, TD, Polio, COVID‑19 vaccination).
