Company Description Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are undertaking the design, build, and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations, and Tunnel (South Civil) package. As Ontario Transit Group, we are now mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030. The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the peak of construction. What is the project? A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River). Stations: One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station. Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations. Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown). The benefits to Ontario Faster, more frequent, and reliable access to rapid transit with more than 227,500 people will live within a 10-minute walk of an Ontario Line station. These benefits include: Improve the quality of life for commuters by reducing daily travel time. Reduce crowding on the existing Line 1 (Yonge-University) subway. Up to 57,000 more jobs accessible by transit (in 45 minutes or less) for Toronto residents. Economic and community growth along the future transit line and thousands of job opportunities annually during construction. Reduction in traffic congestion, greenhouse gases, and fuel consumption by providing an alternative transportation option. Job Description Senior Estimator/Project Manager (Variation & Change Team) The Variation Team is part of the Contracts Department and is responsible for managing all instructions related to Variations, Changes, or Claims with the Contracting Authority. The team interfaces closely with all project departments - technical, scheduling, procurement, construction, legal and finance - in order to deliver comprehensive cost and impact assessments, in a timely manner. Variations are negotiated to either confirmation or rejection, and if confirmed, passed to operations for implementation. The Variation Team includes coordinators, engineers and schedulers, under the supervision of the Variation Manager. It is supported by different legal & claim consultants as needed. Manage the estimation and proposal process for assigned variation/change enquiries. Analyze project plans, specifications, and documentation to assess the impact of variations on schedule, resource and cost. Liaise with relevant project departments to develop solutions and responses to variation enquiries. Coordinate the data and documentation required for impact assessments. Prepare submittal documents and participate in the review process. Review and analyze change orders and contract modifications for potential impacts on the project scope, schedule, and budget. Maintain a comprehensive log of all variations, changes and claims. Ensure proper documentation of all variations. Provide regular updates to the Variation Manager and other project stakeholders on the status of variations. Support the Variation Manager in the negotiation and resolution of variations, changes, and claims with the Contracting Authority. Qualifications A Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management, or a related field. 3-5 years of experience in one of the following areas: Contract and/or variation/change management on large construction projects. Small to medium-size bids ($1M-$10M). Construction experience as Project Manager or Project/Site Coordinator. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Experience working within the Rail Corridor is considered an asset. Strong problem-solving, synthesis and critical thinking skills. The ability to work well under pressure and meet tight deadlines. A team player who can collaborate effectively with colleagues at all levels of the organization. Excellent oral and written communication. Analytical mindset with evidence-based decision-making skills. Good time management and organization skills. Ownership, autonomy, commitment, and an ability to meet deadlines. Ability to build strong relationships internally and with clients. Advanced computer literacy (Office); intermediate proficiency in MS Project.
