Job Overview The Director, HR Business Partnering leads a national team of Senior HR Business Partners providing strategic onsite and field‑based support for our dental clinics and corporate support functions. As trusted advisors to senior leadership, the HR business partnering team ensures alignment of 123Dentist’s culture, people processes, and strategies with our business objectives across diverse functions and geographies. The Director, HR Business Partnering partners closely with corporate and operations leaders to drive disciplined execution of workforce planning, role clarity, accountability, talent identification, development, and organizational effectiveness, measured by the delivery of exceptional patient care, high employee engagement, and clinic growth aligned to 123Dentist’s growth plans. Under the leadership of this position, the HR business partnering team will champion consistency of practice and processes across the organization and ensure the seamless integration of newly acquired clinics or clinic groups. Responsibilities and Duties Business Partnering Excellence Establishes and champions a scalable HR business partnering (HRBP) framework, tailored to the unique needs of 123Dentist and ensuring consistency across locations and geographies. Provides mentorship, leadership and guidance to the Senior HR Business Partners on the resolution of complex employee relations issues and investigations; directly manage escalations, as needed. Provides coaching and development to the Senior HR Business Partners to enhance their strategic influence and operational impact; ensure the team is fully trained and knowledgeable on all People practices (e.g., employee relations, performance management, talent acquisition, HR systems, total rewards). Manages legal matters, compliance, and risks related on employment law and regulations, partnering with Legal and external counsel, as needed. Monitors and measures the effectiveness of HR business partnering on clinic performance, employee experience, and retention. Strategic Leadership Leads and develops a high‑performing team of Senior HR Business Partners who support onsite and field‑based regional operations, clinical leadership, and corporate departments nationwide. Leads and mentors the business partnering team who provide proactive, strategic advice to senior leaders, helping translate business goals and operational complexities into scalable, repeatable, and actionable people strategies and tactics. Supports consistency in HRBP practices, processes, and policies nationwide, in alignment with provincial regulations and employment standards. Workforce Planning Oversees workforce planning and talent forecasting for clinical roles (e.g., dentists, hygienists, assistants) and support staff to ensure long‑term operational effectiveness. Champions and ensure the HR business partnering team uses a collaborative partnership approach on cross‑functional initiatives, such as: Partnering with leadership, Talent Acquisition, Finance, and Total Rewards on position management, hiring plans, and forecasting. Partnering with leadership and Total Rewards to lead organizational design and architecture; overseeing the implementation of any resulting changes to support both leaders and employees with care. Partnering with Total Rewards and HR Systems to review and use people analytics to identify workforce trends (e.g., turnover, performance distribution), identify potential challenges, and develop targeted interventions. Leads seamless integration efforts for newly acquired clinic and clinic groups with a focus on the employee experience, along with advising leaders on organizational design impacts. Talent, Culture, and Change Management Champions performance management, leadership development, succession planning, and career development programs across the enterprise. Partners with Total Rewards and Organizational Effectiveness & Change Management to implement annual cyclical activities (e.g., talent review, performance management, employee engagement, annual merit process, bonus plan administration, etc.). Collaborates with Talent Acquisition to address staffing challenges and build pipelines for key roles in high‑demand markets. Leads change management, engagement, and communications efforts for HR initiatives to ensure smooth transitions and high adoption rates while minimizing disruption to operations and growth. Education, Credentials, Qualifications 10+ years of experience in strategic HR business partnering or other HR disciplines for complex, nationwide organizations. 5+ years of experience leading a business partnering function, preferably in a healthcare and/or multi‑site retail or franchise operation. Bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or a related field. Additional relevant diploma, degree, or certification is an asset (e.g., MBA, CPHR). Bilingual in French and English preferred. Detailed understanding and experience with labour legislation and employment law across all provinces, with particularly strong knowledge of British Columbia, Ontario, and Quebec. Advanced proficiency with Workday (preferred) or other HR systems. Required Skills & Abilities Proven experience in mentoring and developing leaders across all organizational levels and clinic settings. Proven experience in organizational and people strategy across different functions. Proven ability to influence and coach business leaders with exceptional communication and relationship‑building skills. Experience in leading successful change initiatives and driving adoption of HR processes.
