As a Software Engineer in Test (SET), you are a developer with a primary focus on the testability, robustness, and performance of our software. As a Software Engineer In Test, You Will Design, build, and maintain scalable and robust test automation frameworks and infrastructure to support our engineering teams. Develop performant tools and solutions that enable developers to easily write and execute tests, with a focus on optimizing test suite execution time to shorten development, developer delight when using the tools and overall deployment cycles. Collaborate with development teams to influence software design and architecture, ensuring new features are built with testability in mind. Build a deep understanding of Clover Health’s clinical applications and their underlying infrastructure and architecture. Write clean, maintainable code to automate complex testing scenarios for functional, visual, and performance testing. Champion best practices in software development and testing, establishing processes that elevate quality and shared ownership across the entire engineering organization. Debug complex issues, identify root causes, and work with development teams to implement fixes and preventative measures. Integrate automated testing into our CI/CD pipelines to ensure rapid, reliable feedback for our development teams. Work with cross-functional teams to ensure quality is a shared responsibility throughout the software development lifecycle. Take ownership of our critical testing infrastructure, including the demo tenant and the generation and management of synthetic data (including LLM-friendly large and realistic datasets). Success In This Role Looks Like You can readily engage in technical discussions at multiple levels. You thrive in technical design discussions with fellow engineers as well as in quarterly product review sessions with business stakeholders. You build and maintain a suite of trustworthy and efficient automated tools, frameworks, tests that give engineers high confidence in the quality and stability of their code before it reaches production. You understand the business goals behind new features and can proactively translate them into comprehensive test strategies, hedging against common technical pitfalls to ensure quality aligns with user-facing objectives. You have the heart of a developer and a passion for quality, enjoying the challenge of building software that tests software. You Should Get In Touch If You have 3+ years of experience in a software development role, with a focus on testing and automation (e.g., Software Engineer in Test, Software Development Engineer in Test). You have experience mentoring other engineers and leading technical discussions. You have strong experience testing web applications, APIs. You have demonstrated proficiency in one or more programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, JavaScript, Go). You have proven experience designing, building, and maintaining test automation frameworks from the ground up. You have experience with or a strong interest in leveraging AI/LLM technologies to enhance testing and development processes. You have hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines continuous testing principles. You have familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, GCP, Azure) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
