The Opportunity: Are you a force to be reckoned with? We are looking for a dynamic Executive Director to lead Uquutaq Society into its next phase of growth by championing our program and organizational vision, overseeing all operations, providing guidance and mentorship to the management team, and leading capital projects aligned with community commitments. This role offers a unique chance to leverage your skills and experience to make a significant impact in addressing housing and homelessness in Canada’s North.

Key Responsibilities: As the Executive Director you drive strategic planning and execution in alignment with our mission, managing organizational risks and opportunities. Advocating for policies and resources to address homelessness and housing issues, as well as cultivating partnerships with key stakeholders, are essential aspects of this role.

You will be the dynamic leader at the helm of our capital development projects, overseeing all capital development projects from concept to completion ensuring they align with Uquutaq's mission and strategic vision. You'll engage with community stakeholders to ensure each project meets the unique needs of Iqaluit and you will engage and manage consultants and contractors that execute the housing projects. Your leadership will ensure that all construction adheres to regulatory requirements, maintaining the highest standards of effectiveness and compliance. This is your opportunity to shape the future of our community through innovative and impactful projects.

You are creative, resourceful and experienced at tapping into funding sources and you advance successful fundraising initiatives, manage donor relationships, and diversify funding sources. Your broad knowledge of organizational financial management is key to overseeing budget preparation, financial forecasting, and ensuring compliance and risk management across the organization.

With strong project management and program operations expertise you are involved in designing and directing the implementation of programs for the community, advocating for clients' rights and access to services, and ensuring effective data analytics and metrics are in place to assess program effectiveness. Community engagement is vital, advocating for policy changes and funding support while fostering partnerships with community organizations and service providers. Additionally, you model and promote a positive organizational culture, develop diversity, equity, and inclusion policies, support HR-related matters, and collaborate with the Board on strategy.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Degree in Non-Profit Management, Business Administration, Public Policy, or related field.
  • 8+ years of senior leadership experience, preferably in housing and homelessness services.
  • Proven experience in financial management and budget oversight.
  • Familiarity with Inuit culture and the ability to operate effectively in diverse environments.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and strategic planning skills.
  • Fluency in Inuktitut is a significant asset.
