Join to apply for the Project Engineer role at K+S Group 2 days ago Be among the first 25 applicants Project Engineer Responsibilities Reporting to the Senior Engineer, Project Engineering, the Project Engineer will provide project engineering support to assigned projects, managing projects and teams through all life‑cycle phases from concept through commissioning and follow‑up/troubleshooting. The Project Engineer will prepare work scopes, budgets, schedules, and resource allocation plans for multidisciplinary resources, ensuring safety, cost control, risk analysis, and schedule stewardship to complete projects on time and within budget. Accountable for the coordination of technical deliverables (ensure quality assurance and control is in place and executed) through all phases of the project (design, procurement, construction, commissioning and turnover). Define, quantify, and create scope definition for the engineering deliverables of each project. Oversee and coordinate the work of drafting, design, and all engineering for the project. Gather the technical requirements from Operations and Maintenance stakeholders. Support evaluation of business cases, particularly technical and design aspects. Facilitate engineering and design‑related requests for information. Participation in stage gate control procedures, documents, workflows, work instructions. Liaise with Procurement, Project Management, Maintenance, and Production teams. Ensure engineering expectations and intentions are clearly communicated and understood with the design team and third‑party consultant, assist in removing roadblocks to progress and own the outcomes. Communicate project status and progress. Accountable for project engineering reporting, providing timely updates and input to Senior Project Engineer/ Engineering Manager for project‑level reporting. Responsible for engineering change management (design scope, schedule, budget), recognizing when design changes impact. Responsible for tracking proposed changes, validating scope relevance, and supporting the development of justifications to ensure the technical impact of changes is clearly defined and communicated. Ensure all regulatory requirements are met for projects. Committed to driving efficiencies in execution and design and focused on fit‑for‑purpose, cost‑effective design solutions. Vendor & Contractor Management Oversee and coordinate work with engineering consultants, design partners and other contractors. Ensure technical reviews are scheduled, completed, code‑stamped and returned on time, maintaining quality and adherence to project timelines. Project Coordination Lead and support project design through basic through detailed engineering, construction, and final turnover to operations. Execute wellfield and sustaining capital projects in alignment with approved APR, scope, budget, and schedule. Integrate health, safety, constructability, and risk management into project design and delivery. Coordinate with internal teams, consultants, and vendors to complete technical deliverables and resolve design issues. Oversee engineering consultants, contracts, and internal staff during design and construction phases. Manage technical schedules, monitor progress, escalat e issues, and ensure alignment with project objectives. Support project management functions including work scopes, tendering, bid evaluations, and cost reporting. Maintain Technical Decision Record and contribute to Project Decision Record processes for traceable documentation of technical decisions. Oversee development of construction schedules, commissioning turnover packages, and operational acceptance. Collaborate across teams to manage change impacts, analyze completed tasks, and improve future project efficiency. Safety, Health & Environment Ensures that K+S Potash Canada is at all times in compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental regulatory and internal laws and policies. The ideal candidate will have: University bachelor’s degree. Program or area of specialization – Bachelor of Science in Engineering. Eligibility for registration with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of Saskatchewan (APEGS). Professional Engineering (P. Eng.) designation. Over 9 years of progressive technical and project experience in a mining/heavy industrial process setting. Demonstrated experience in engineering environments and working with EPCMs and consultants. Proven track record in managing engineering components of capital projects. Experience in FEED projects is an advantage. Excellent communication and organization skills, ability to diligently follow‑up on tasks and hold people accountable. Proficiency in fostering business‑focused collaboration, aligning cross‑functional teams and driving projects to successful completion. Proficient in modern office software and knowledge of technical, budgeting, and analytical software. Ability to analytically solve problems with a creative approach and communicate outcomes across groups.
