Senior Mechanical Designer - Heavy Industry Mississauga, Ontario, Canada Annual Salary: CA$90,000 – CA$125,000 Responsibilities Prepare detailed design calculations and analysis of mechanical equipment for Heavy Industry (Steel, Material Handling, Mining) Prepare technical and other project specifications Coordinate mechanical design work with other engineering disciplines Be capable of coordinating and directing the work of a small group of mechanical designers and draftspersons Prepare proposals, feasibility studies, reports, and preliminary designs Develop initial concepts into final designs, including detailed drawings, assemblies, bills of material, etc. Investigate field problems and prepare reports Provide on-site technical support during major machinery installations Provide support to the sales team when visiting customers Provide technical guidance to co-workers Qualifications Must be capable of creative, out-of-the-box thinking to solve unique engineering problems B.Sc. or B.Eng. in Mechanical Engineering; P.Eng. registration in Ontario preferred but not mandatory Minimum of 10 years combined experience in design of Steel Mill and/or heavy industrial machinery design (e.g., mining) Knowledge of design, fabrication, and installation of heavy mechanical equipment Proficient in the use of 3D CAD design software (preferably SolidWorks) Strong computer-oriented skills (familiarity with AutoCAD, MS Office, FEA Analysis, Math, CAD, etc.) Strong communication skills, verbal and written #J-18808-Ljbffr
