The Work This opportunity will play a pivotal role within the Financial Planning and Reporting team in one of the fastest growing financial institutions in Canada. The AD/Sr. Manager, Financial Planning & Reporting will use their financial modeling and analytical skills to develop or enhance scheduled and ad hoc models and reports that drive key management decisions. Strong organization and multi-tasking skills are required, and the individual should work with a high degree of independence and initiative. Although there are 2 direct reports for this role, the Sr. Manager/ AD must also be willing to take a hands-on approach with a high level of attention to detail. The individual will need well-developed interpersonal and communication skills due to extensive work with department heads and our leadership team. The ability to effectively gather and document reporting requirements and statements of work is essential to the success of the role. Core Responsibilities This role will specifically support the Personal Lending, Payments and Digital Bank portfolios and be the primary financial lead supporting the Head of Personal Business. Maintenance of Financial Models (25%) Liaise with Senior Management within various Business Units to collect relevant assumptions which drive Financial Model output Developing and maintaining financial models that are distributed to Senior and Executive Management on a monthly and quarterly basis Key deliverables include, but are not limited to: Annual Budget Model; Quarterly Financial Forecasts; Monthly Financial Reports; Monthly Accruals and reporting of vendor spend; Business Unit NIM; Business Unit profitability reporting, ROE and Pricing analysis Run and review output from detailed Financial Models and ensure data extraction accuracy Utilize advanced Excel skills (Pivot Tables, nested IF, VLOOKUP, OFFSET, SUMIFS, MATCH-INDEX, etc.) to build efficient and accurate financial models Review Financial Analyst/Grad Rotational Associates’ work related to Financial Models Financial Analysis/Ad hoc Reporting (35%) Collect, consolidate and analyze financial data and key performance metrics derived from various sources Present results and provide analysis and insights to Senior and Executive Management on a monthly and quarterly basis; include insights and recommendations to drive better results Maintain flexibility, autonomy and attention to detail under tight timeframes Deliver Business Unit specific portfolio reporting and KPI reporting; support ad-hoc reporting as required Review work of Financial Analysts/Grad Rotational Associates Assist in other areas of the Accounting and Finance department as needed Enhance Financial Analysis and Processes (25%) Define, scope and implement enhancements to Financial Models, Analysis and Reporting Assess and improve Budgeting and Forecasting processes, involvement in new budgeting/forecasting tool implementation Improve technical accuracy, validation and organization of Financial Analysis Structure key processes and develop documentation to enhance efficiencies and manage risk Identify opportunities to reduce redundancy, automate and streamline processes Review improvements with Financial Analysts/Grad Rotational Associates Leadership (15%) Foster a positive and productive work environment with open communication Resolve conflicts promptly and fairly Coaching and development: set expectations, identify development opportunities and coach team members Promote diversity, equity, and inclusion and a culture of respect Ensure accountability and empower the team to take responsibility Let\'s Talk About You Four-year post-secondary degree; Accounting, Finance, Economics, or Business preferred MBA/CPA/CFA designation preferred Minimum 8 years of progressive and relevant work experience Experience overseeing/reviewing junior team members’ work Knowledgeable of mortgage and personal banking products and features Highly skilled in MS Office (Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Word) Advanced Excel skills, including macros Ability to work with formulas, numbers and spreadsheets Experience using technology to gather and manipulate data Experience with SQL is an asset Knowledge of financial statements and reporting is required Knowledge of financial modeling concepts is required Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Clear communication of technical/analytical information to diverse audiences Strong two-way communication and leadership skills Ability to handle multiple priorities (multi-tasking) Enjoys working in both team and individual environments What we offer What we offer (For full-time permanent roles): Competitive discretionary bonus Market leading RRSP match program Medical, dental, vision, life, and disability benefits Employee Share Purchase Plan Maternity/Parental top-up Generous vacation policy and personal days Virtual events to connect with colleagues Annual professional development allowance and Career Development program A fulfilling opportunity to join one of the top FinTechs The incumbent will be hybrid; in-office time will be spent at Equitable Bank\'s office space located at Ontario Street, Toronto, ON .
