The role includes applying specialist research‑related skills in renewable energy engineering, undertaking research tasks, contributing to externally funded projects, and teaching energy‑related courses (20% of the workload). The position is full‑time (37.5 hours per week), fixed‑term for two years, and offers opportunities for collaboration with other researchers and for involvement in ongoing and future projects. Candidate Profile A PhD degree (or near completion) in renewable energy engineering or a closely related field. Specialized knowledge in energy systems expansion planning and/or the techno‑economic assessment of energy technologies. Demonstrable experience with Python and relevant modelling tools, such as REMix or PyPSA, particularly in the context of New Zealand’s energy system. A strong track record of high‑quality research, as evidenced by publications. Experience delivering engaging oral presentations to diverse audiences. Capability and willingness to undertake collaborative research. Ability to relate well to and mentor students. Openness to feedback and active participation in performance discussions. Understanding of multicultural issues and a commitment to the Treaty of Waitangi. Commitment to contributing to a collegial, inclusive, and innovative research environment.
