Senior Mine Planner
The Senior Mine Planner, reporting directly to the Technical Services Superintendent, is responsible for ensuring the safe and economically sound development and operations of the underground mine. The role combines an understanding of the effects of these structures on their surrounding environment and technical knowledge.
The list of duties and responsibilities below are not exclusive or exhaustive, and the employee will be required to undertake such duties as may reasonably be expected within the scope of grading of the position. All employees are required to be professional, cooperative and flexible in line with the requirements of the position. All information in the Human Resources must be kept locked and confidential.
Operational Planning / Technical Execution:
- Develop 3-month mine plan and maintain a rolling 12-month mine plan, which will allow the mine to meet its production commitments and goals.
- Develop conceptual mining plans in collaboration with other departments.
- Maintain constant communication with Geology personnel to ensure ore update is completed in a timely fashion.
- Produce conceptual mine development and long hole designs.
- Use financial and economic data to ensure all mine plans are cost effective.
- Lead monthly 3-month mine plan meeting.
- Produce monthly production review report.
- Assemble mine monthly operation report.
- Conduct ground control inspection in mine active headings on weekly basis.
- Assess ground condition for mine planned development.
- Organize annual pull test on ground control products with Operation department and suppliers.
- Produce ground support upgrade and rehab plan.
- Complete underground site rock mass mapping.
- Build phase2 models, collect long hole performance data to update mine Stability Graph to support future long hole design.
- Collect the installed MPBXs data to monitor ground movement.
- Review ground control for mine development layouts.
- Assist on producing mine development driving layouts when needed.
- Assist on mine ventilation design when needed.
General Admission and Controls:
- Must be familiar with shrinkage, long hole and cut/fill methods of mining.
- Must keep a high level of housekeeping in all work areas
- Attend meetings as required
Qualifications and Skills Requirement:
- Graduated from a recognized Mining engineering program.
- Must be a member of Professional Engineers Ontario.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience of mine planning, engineering & project experience.
- Narrow vein mining experience is preferred.
- Well-developed computer skills, specifically with software such as AutoCAD / Amine, and MS Office.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and presentation skills.
- The capability to work positively with a team of professional and technical people in a changing, creative and energetic environment is critical.
- Ability to lift 50 pounds
