The incumbent exercises initiative and independent judgment in determining work priorities, methods, and actions on unusual matters, aligning with the mission, vision, values, and policies of Southern Health-Santé Sud. Experience Minimum two (2) years' experience working in a maintenance position. Previous experience with electrical, carpentry, plumbing, heating, or air‑conditioning. Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate) Power Engineering - 5th Class Certificate recognized by the Province of Manitoba. Other suitable combinations of education and experience may be considered. Certification/Licensure/Registration Not Applicable Qualifications And Skills Knowledge and understanding of associated equipment and systems in a 5th class plant. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, diagrams, and equipment manuals. Knowledge of various types of mechanical equipment and their functions. Knowledge of proper operation and maintenance of yard care equipment. Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs. Knowledge of basic safe work legislation and practices. Knowledge of Fire Codes and C.S.A standards. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Applications and Outlook. Demonstrated initiative, attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to work in a fast‑paced, changing environment. Strong written and oral communication skills. Problem‑solving skills. Independent judgment and decision making. Respect for a culturally diverse population. Ability to prioritize in changing environments. Ability to build and maintain professional relationships. Teamwork and independent working abilities. Physical Requirements Ability to meet physical and mental job demands. Work in a variety of temperatures, from excessive heat to cold. Possible exposure to hazardous chemicals. On‑call evenings and weekends as necessary. Respond to facility within 20 minutes when on call. Travel to other regional facilities may be required.
