Job Description Robotics Test & Integration Engineer Based in Pasadena, CA OffWorld is a robotics startup working on developing a mobile robotic workforce for heavy industrial jobs on Earth, Moon, asteroids & Mars. OffWorld was founded by an experienced engineering team drawing on decades of tackling formidable engineering challenges at NASA, ESA, NOAA, Maxar Technologies, CERN, Reaction Engines, SAFRAN, Surrey Satellites and Cisco. OffWorld’s first challenge is developing and maturing a modular robotic system for extreme environments on Earth. Our robots will go deeper underground and farthest on Earth than humans can, eliminate the need for humans to work in life‑threatening environments in mining, construction, tunneling and other dangerous industries, and dramatically reduce the environmental footprint and cost of operations in key economies on Earth and beyond. We have designed a modular robotic architecture that focuses on maximizing the commonality and reusability across components for fast deployment and optimization. Our robotic systems combine sensor information, cutting edge classical/machine learning (ML) algorithms and a robotics real‑time system platform for control, decision making and execution. OffWorld is seeking a talented and motivated Robotics Test & Integration Engineer to join a fast‑moving team working to create advanced robotic and space systems. As a Robotics Test & Integration Engineer, you will be responsible for developing and executing testing and integration activities. These testing and integration activities span virtual tests (e.g., simulation), subsystem and system testing of robotic platforms at both testing facilities and field‑deployed sites (open pit and subterranean mines). You will work closely with cross‑functional teams, including robotics engineers, software developers, and project managers, to ensure that testing, integration, and overall development goals are met to the highest standards. Responsibilities Test Planning and Execution: Create detailed test plans, test cases, and test scripts, ensuring adequate coverage of all robotic system components and functionalities. Coordinate and execute testing activities, including functional testing, regression testing, performance testing, and stress testing. Test Automation: Identify opportunities for test automation and develop automated test scripts using appropriate tools and frameworks. Continuously improve the efficiency and effectiveness of testing processes through automation. Test Reporting and Documentation: Analyze test results and prepare comprehensive test reports, documenting any defects, issues, or areas of improvement. Maintain detailed documentation of test procedures, configurations, and test environments. Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams, including robotics engineers, software developers, mechanical engineers, and project managers, to understand project requirements, resolve issues, and ensure alignment between development and testing activities. Communicate testing progress, risks, and recommendations to stakeholders. Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in robotics testing methodologies, tools, and technologies. Identify areas for process improvement, propose innovative solutions, and drive the implementation of best practices. Qualifications Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, robotics, or software / electrical / mechanical engineering, or a related field. 2+ years of engineering experience in (mobile and/or manipulator) robotics, or similar 2+ years of hands‑on testing of (mobile and/or manipulator) robots Strong knowledge of robotic systems, sensors, perception, and control algorithms across software, hardware, and integrated‑system development Proficient in programming languages commonly used in robotics, such as C++, Python, or Java. Experience with ROS (Robot Operating System) or similar robotics middleware. Experience with robotics simulation environments, such as ROS Gazebo, and scenario‑based regression testing Experience with Jira, Confluence, git, docker, and Linux command‑line operations and debugging. Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with attention to detail. Excellent communication and leadership abilities, with the capability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams.
