Senior Electrical Engineer

Senior Electrical Engineer Expand our Industrial, Water and Waste‑Water team in the downtown Vancouver, British Columbia office. Reporting to the Director, Electrical, SCADA & Facilities, you will work with other electrical staff, mentor junior staff, and act as project electrical lead. What you can expect to do here: Design power distribution, power generation, and substations for low‑voltage and medium‑voltage electrical systems of industrial plants such as pump stations, water treatment plants, and other industries. Perform load calculations and use modeling software to size transformers, generators, switchgear, breakers, switches, MCCs, cables, capacitor banks, UPS, harmonic filters, and other electrical equipment. Develop electrical models using ETAP, EasyPower and perform analyses such as power flow, short‑circuit, arc‑flash, protection & coordination, harmonics, and static & dynamic motor start‑up. Create single‑line diagrams, three‑line diagrams, equipment layouts and elevation drawings, P&IDs, grounding layouts, motor schematics and wiring diagrams, instrument loop diagrams, AC/DC schematics, cable schedules, cable tray layouts, and other related drawings. Specify metering and protection relays, CTs, and PTs; develop network wiring diagrams for Profinet, ModBus TCP/IP, DeviceNet, or Ethernet. Conduct internal technical reviews and verification checks on designs, reports, and associated advice. Carry out project management, contract administration and field reviews under construction. Prepare fee estimates, quotations, and expressions of interest; assist with bids. Build effective networks and relationships with stakeholders and clients. Mentor junior staff and participate in value‑analysis and client project requirement meetings. Ensure compatibility with other disciplines and maintain project quality and client service. Other duties as assigned. What you’ll bring to WSP: Minimum 10 years of electrical consulting design experience in the industrial sector. Bachelor or Master degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution. Experience preparing detailed design drawings: single‑line, three‑line, equipment layouts, grounding layouts, motor schematics, wiring diagrams, P&IDs, cable schedules, and related drawings. Experience sizing and reviewing low‑ and medium‑voltage equipment including switchgear, generators, transformers, motor control centres, variable frequency drives, breakers, mixers, power monitoring relays, CTs, PTs, capacitor banks, and harmonic filters. Experience in the industrial project detail‑design cycle: analysis, design, development of drawings and specifications, cost estimation, construction support, and commissioning. Proficiency in power system studies using ETAP, SKM, or EasyPower. Knowledge of industrial plant automation and integration with PLC, RTU, DCS, and SCADA. Experience with Profinet, Modbus TCP/IP, DeviceNet and Ethernet protocols. Familiarity with electrical codes and standards: CEC, IEEE, NFPA, NEMA, NESC, ANSI, ATS, and FM Global. Results‑oriented, with a reputation for project delivery, quality, and customer service. Strong prioritization skills in a busy environment; excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Clean driving record/abstract. Experience with Metro Vancouver engineering and drafting standards is a strong asset. Compensation Salary range (British Columbia): $124,800 – $171,600. Final salary awarded may vary based on education, qualifications, experience, seniority, location, performance, and business needs. Range is subject to change for business purposes.
