Return of Service (ROS) : $10,000 to recent PSW graduates in exchange for a 12-month commitment to work full-time in a long-term care home or within the community.

Qualifications accepted to work as a PSW:

  • Valid Certificate as a Personal Support Worker (PSW)
  • RN or RPN
  • Nursing student (2 clinical placements completed)
  • Valid Developmental Support Worker Certificate
  • Foreign trained healthcare professional - Nurse, Physician

Requirements:

  • A valid driver's license and vehicle.
  • Current CPR Certificate level C
  • Current immunization record (TB test completed within the past 12 months) is required upon hire
  • Current vulnerable sector check screening is required upon hire
  • Availability to work evenings; including weekends (Monday, Fridays, and every other weekend) or (wednesday, friday and every other weekend)
  • This is a physically demanding position and requires hand, arm and shoulder dexterity, sensory ability, lifting to a maximum of approximately fifty-five (55) pounds, walking, climbing stairs, standing, bending, reaching, and frequent movement
  • Availability to work evenings 5pm-10pm

To be eligible for the PSW ROS, a Personal Support Worker must:

Successfully completed an Ontario PSW training program on or after April 1, 2023, at a public-assisted college, private career college, district school board or Indigenous Institute that meets the 2022 program standard established by the Ontario Ministry of Colleges and Universities Ontario Ministry of Training, Colleges and Universities program standard Begin employment with a participating employer between April 1, 2023, and March 31, 2026; and Commit to 12 months of employment at a full-time work schedule
