Base pay range $130,080.00/yr - $195,120.00/yr The Role The AMD SPIO Firmware organization is looking for an engineering leader who is passionate about firmware and embedded systems. Our team develops and deploys cutting edge technologies such as advanced chiplet design and streamlined IO architecture through firmware across all AMD Business Units. Our goal is to build groundbreaking products that address tomorrow’s challenges in today’s AI data-driven world. The Person We are seeking an energetic engineering manager to lead and grow our IO subsystems firmware team. You will develop robust, scalable firmware solutions with proven quality, lead the team, manage issues proactively, and clearly communicate risks to program leadership. You will provide cross-functional leadership, apply software methodologies, and maintain strong organizational skills to ensure on-schedule, defect-free firmware solutions. Key Responsibilities Manage a team of engineers for architecture definition, development, pre-silicon verification, and post-silicon enablement Collaborate with SOC architects, silicon design, platform design, and validation to triage, debug and resolve system issues Coordinate with Product Management to plan, schedule, and resource firmware development activities Oversee end-to-end firmware flow and component integration Ensure on-time delivery of firmware, quality, and documentation to internal teams, customers and partners Drive collaboration and leadership across product development initiatives aligned with customer and internal needs Inspire the team with a collaborative, can-do attitude Influence others as a technical leader and build trusting stakeholder relationships Be prepared to code/debug in the trenches to ensure timely delivery Perform individual goal planning and evaluation in accordance with AMD policies Maintain team health and morale Develop and grow the engineering skills of the team Preferred Experience Experience in embedded firmware development with knowledge of embedded systems Hands-on involvement in board, processor, or ASIC bring-up Expertise in RTOS (e.g., Zephyr) and Microprocessors (Tensilica, ARM Cortex-M, RISC-V) Experience managing people and technical teams (preferred) Knowledge of IO technology such as PCIe, SDXI, USB4 (preferred) Familiarity with software development processes and methodologies Proficiency with Git and tools like Gerrit and GitHub Strong analytical and debugging skills Previous pre-silicon or emulation experience a plus Ability to grasp new technical concepts quickly Excellent written and verbal communication and presentation skills Academic Credentials BSEE, BSCS, or BSCE degree or higher Location Markham, Ontario, Canada or Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada Benefits and Equal Opportunity Benefits offered are described: AMD benefits at a glance.
