Canada New Value Solutions Full time

New Value Solutions, a national IT consulting company, is seeking an AWS DevOps Engineer to help our client on projects to migrate and operate various information technology workloads to the AWS Public Cloud Platform. This position will deliver AWS Cloud Design, Implementation and Support services in a hybrid environment of on-prem and AWS public cloud platform. It is anticipated that the project will be a range of part-time to full-time effort.


Responsibilities:


  • Validate existing technical design and deployments to ensure secure and highly available services
  • Design and update cloud architecture to meet the needs of the organisation and assist in the migration of workloads in the production for effective user log in
  • Advise management team during implementation process of project and monitor all cloud related activities
  • Assist in establishing a cloud sustainment team within the IT department by transferring knowledge, by mentoring, shadowing one another and training
  • Lead the cloud infrastructure development team
  • Liaise with the security consultant to ensure the cloud configuration is compliant with the Security Control Framework
  • Work with IT Finance team to ensure that sufficient financial controls are in place
  • Liaise with Enterprise Architecture and IT Solutions on application remediation required for cloud migration
  • Assist in the operationalization of the cloud infrastructure procedures and processes


Requirements:


  • 10+ years of experience in IT
  • 5+ years of experience as a DevOps Engineer on AWS (Amazon Web Services) platform
  • AWS certified Solution Architect and other relevant certifications
  • Strong ITIL knowledge
  • Extensive knowledge of architecture and security of financial applications, automation and privacy
  • Experience with architecture frameworks such as TOGAF, Zachman or similar
  • Preferred Qualifications:
  • Excellent working knowledge about all areas of infrastructure management
  • Sound knowledge of principles, concepts, practices and techniques in the area of specialised computer programs/software
  • Excellent knowledge in Infrastructure Security
  • Strong prioritisation and organisation skills
  • Superior problem solving and troubleshooting ability
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
