Location: Toronto

Responsibilities:

- Build and maintain software components for our data infrastructure, supporting AI/ML initiatives and analytics across the organization.

- Implement data pipelines, APIs, and services to collect, process, transform, and deliver data for AI workloads, collaborating with senior engineers for architectural guidance.

- Work closely with software engineers to ensure data quality, reliability, and accessibility across our data-driven applications.

- Develop data-driven software features to support feature engineering, model training, and the deployment of AI/ML models.

- Implement monitoring, testing, and CI/CD practices to support reliable and scalable data-centric systems.

- Optimize data storage and retrieval solutions (e.g., data warehouses, data lakes, NoSQL databases) for both analytics and AI workloads, under the mentorship of senior engineers.

- Apply and refine software engineering skills (e.g., design patterns, code review, testing, documentation) throughout the data platform development lifecycle.


Experience:

- 3+ years of hands-on software development experience, with a strong interest in data-centric applications.

- Experience in building data pipelines, data processing systems, or APIs, even on a smaller scale.

- Understanding of cloud-based data platforms, distributed systems, and containerization concepts.

- Solid software engineering skills in Python, Java, or a similar language, with a willingness to learn and adopt best practices.


Technical Knowledge:

- Proficiency in back-end development frameworks (e.g., Django, Flask, Node.js, Spring, PHP).

- Strong SQL skills and experience with relational databases; familiarity with NoSQL is a plus.

- Basic understanding of big data technologies (e.g., Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) is desirable.

- Exposure to common ML libraries and frameworks (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch) is a plus.

- Familiarity with TypeScript for front-end or back-end development is a plus.
