Director, People – Yorkville University We are looking for visionary, change‑making leaders who want to create inspiring, inclusive learning experiences for students, faculty, and staff across our Toronto campus and Toronto Film School. Who we need Reporting to the Chief People Officer, you will oversee key people and culture initiatives on a 12‑month contract (with a possibility of a permanent appointment). As a senior ambassador for People programs, you will develop trusting relationships, foster collaboration, and remove barriers so faculty and employees can excel. Key Responsibilities Partner with academic and business leaders to co‑create and implement people and culture strategies that align with the university’s mission and values; advise on regional and national initiatives. Lead enterprise‑level change management, strategic communications, and support leaders through organizational change with minimal disruption. Collaborate with leaders to understand hiring needs, identify diverse talent, and drive recruitment, retention, and workforce planning strategies. Coach leaders on talent development, succession planning, and continuous learning to build a robust pipeline of future leaders. Provide trusted HR advice, resolve conflict, and design solutions‑focused employee relations that elevate faculty and staff experience. Ensure people practices reflect equitable, inclusive standards and support cultural transformation aligned with core values. Equip leaders with forward‑focused performance management practices that enable a high‑performing, highly engaged workforce. Qualifications Seasoned HR Business Partner with consultative, strategic, people‑centric expertise. Experience influencing C‑suite and business leaders in a matrixed, multi‑campus environment. Proven ability to build trusting relationships, lead complex initiatives, and navigate change. Strong communication skills, executive presence, and the ability to craft clear internal messaging and formal recommendations. Leadership underpinned by integrity, empathy, and respect.
