About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Administrator to join our dynamic team for a 15-month contract starting in June 2025. In this critical role, you will be responsible for processing payroll and managing employee benefits while ensuring compliance with all regulatory requirements. As a Payroll and Benefits Administrator, you will play a vital role in maintaining accurate payroll data, addressing employee inquiries, and facilitating year-end processes.

The ideal candidate will bring a minimum of 5 years of full-cycle payroll processing experience, with proficiency in payroll software and a strong understanding of the BC Employment Standards Act. Reports to: Director of Human Resources & Manager of Human Resources

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll, including all deductions and adjustments, for hourly and salaried employees
  • Ensure accurate time entry, pay rates, and related data in the payroll system
  • Process terminations in compliance with the Employment Standards Act (e.g., overtime, vacation pay, final pay, ROEs)
  • Prepare payroll data for WCB and labour standards compliance; manage quarterly WCB payments
  • Maintain compliance with CRA, Employment Standards, and WorkSafe BC regulations
  • Oversee year-end processes including preparation and distribution of T4s
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries in a timely and professional manner
  • Administer group benefits plans (extended health, dental, life, and LTD), including monthly reconciliations
  • Coordinate CPABC-related administration: register modules and exams, process payments, and prepare promissory notes for execution
  • Provide administrative support to the Human Resources team
  • Actively support and participate in Firm wide initiatives
  • Engage in the Firm's Team Development Program and promote the Firm's Quality Control Standards

Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in full-cycle payroll processing
  • Proficiency in payroll software programs; experience with ADP Workforce Now is an asset
  • Strong understanding of the BC Employment Standards Act
  • Intermediate computer skills required, including Microsoft Excel, Word and Outlook
  • Ability to create and interpret payroll and benefits reports and analytics to support decision-making
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Strong organizational, time management, and prioritization skills
  • Ability to multi-task and thrive in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Ability to convey clear and accurate information in a professional manner
  • Collaborative team player who works effectively in a highly interactive environment
  • High degree of confidentiality and sound professional judgement
  • Experience in a professional services firm (250+ employees) is considered an asset
  • Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) certification from the Canadian Payroll Association, or currently working towards certification, is considered an asset

The salary range for this position is $65,000 - $80,000. Actual compensation within the range will be dependent upon your skills, experience, and qualifications.
