The appointment will be at the rank of Assistant Professor, with an anticipated start date of January 1, 2027. Responsibilities Develop and lead an innovative, competitive, independently funded research program in the broadly defined area of molecular virology. Contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching on the St. George campus; provide evidence of teaching excellence through a teaching dossier and endorsements by referees. Engage with the Emerging and Pandemic Infections Consortium (EPIC) and leverage state-of-the-art biosafety Level 3 facilities as appropriate. Collaborate with departmental strengths and contribute to the scholarly and educational missions of the Department of Molecular Genetics. Qualifications Ph.D. in Virology/Microbiology/Molecular Biology or a related discipline at the time of appointment; demonstrated record of research and teaching excellence. Relevant postdoctoral experience or equivalent is expected. Evidence of internationally competitive research in molecular virology or related area, demonstrated by publications in leading journals, significant conference presentations, a strong research statement, awards, and endorsements by senior referees. Salary The expected salary range is $125,000–$155,000 CAD per annum, depending on experience. Negotiations beyond this range will be considered for exceptionally qualified candidates.
