The Role KGS Group is looking for an experienced Archaeologist to join our growing Ecology and Environmental Impact Assessment Department. The successful applicant will be an up-and-coming technical leader, or current leader in your field with the drive to participate in a growing dynamic environmental team Your Key Responsibilities: Acting as a field director and recognized by the Ontario Archaeology Program Unit. Supervise the completion of Stage 2 archaeological fieldwork following the methods and ethics set out in the OntarioStandards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists (2011). Conduct basic archaeological fieldwork tasks (pedestrian survey, test pitting, documentation) Supervise small crews of 4-6 people as they carry out Stage 2 archaeological tasks and ensure their quality of work meets the methods and ethics set out in the OntarioStandards and Guidelines for Consultant Archaeologists (2011). Work with the project management team to help coordinate fieldwork planning and logistics. Communicate and work with Indigenous community groups. Ensure adherence to KGS Group health and safety policies and codes of conduct. About You To fill the role, we’re looking for an applicant to bring forward a good mix of qualifications and previous experience. Some highlights could include: Must hold an Archaeological License in good standing as issued by the Government of Ontario Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Sport; (either an Applied Research License (R-License) or Professional License (P-License). 1+ year of experience directing others in archaeological field methods. Able to work in outdoor environments for extended periods of time, involving moderate to difficult hiking conditions in a variety of weather conditions. Driver’s license. The following experience is considered an asset: A four-year bachelor’s or thesis -based master’s degree in an area of archaeology. ATV or UTV license training. First Aid training. Previous archaeological fieldwork experience in northern Ontario or comparable terrain and environments.
