Sr. Optical Characterization and Test Engineer

Overview Sr. Optical Characterization and Test Engineer at Lumentum. Location: Ottawa, ON (onsite). Employment Type: Full-time. This role focuses on design verification and characterization of optical products, with opportunities to integrate AI tools into test workflows. What You’ll Be Doing Engineer with impact: Design and implement advanced optical test and verification strategies to transition breakthrough products from the design phase to full-scale production. Characterize cutting-edge optics: Conduct in-depth characterization of key optical parameters to optimize real-world performance. Dive into advanced analysis: Use data analysis methods to extract insights, solve challenges, and improve optical designs. Innovate with AI: Collaborate on integrating AI tools into test and characterization workflows to improve efficiency and accuracy. Collaborate for success: Work with R&D, Manufacturing, and Quality teams to align product requirements. Deliver excellence: Create scalable, well-documented test solutions and validate products using Agile methodologies. Learn from the experts: Gain hands-on experience and mentorship in optical testing, characterization, and data analysis. What We’re Looking For Core Requirements A graduate degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Physics, or a related field. 3+ years of experience on MEMS design and testing. Problem-solving skills. Proficiency in software development. Beneficial Qualifications Experience in design and/or testing of optical components and subsystems for optical communications. Hands-on experience with electrical and optical test and measurement equipment. Expertise in test automation, including interaction with devices under test and test equipment. Experience in one or more of the following: Python, Flutter, Dart, VB.NET, C#. Experience leveraging packages and frameworks in a software development context. Familiarity with Agile software development tools and version control systems (Git).
