Senior Manager, CB Communications

Senior Manager, CB Communications (18 Month Contract) Join the Canadian Banking (CB) Communications team at Scotiabank to lead the development and execution of external and internal communications for Scotiabank’s Canadian Banking retail business. Purpose As a member of the CB Communications team you will conceptualize, develop, implement, and measure the success of communications while ensuring all business strategies, plans and initiatives are executed in compliance with governing regulations, internal policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Manage the end‑to‑end process of communications on assigned portfolios, ensuring alignment with CB, Global Corporate Affairs and all‑Bank plans. Lead media relations: develop proactive media strategies, train spokespeople and manage reactive media processes. Support thought‑leadership opportunities for CB retail leaders internally and externally. Spearhead issues management, providing proactive communications advice for any reputational‑risk issues.

Assist in developing and executing internal and external communication strategies, including positioning, key message development, stakeholder analysis and coordination with partners. Interpret complex messages for senior management and create innovative, targeted communications for all organisational levels. Represent CB communications on working teams and cross‑functional status meetings. Develop strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to advance the Bank’s communications objectives.

Monitor current issues and events to produce timely thought‑leadership commentary. Support CB‑wide communication initiatives, such as planning documents and trackers. Foster an inclusive work environment and communicate the Bank’s vision, values and strategy. Apply the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture to day‑to‑day activities and decisions.

Ensure operations comply with Scotiabank’s values, Code of Conduct, and risk controls. Dimensions Global mindset applied to all work. Contribute to the development and implementation of CB communication strategies. Collaborate with communications and business partners across CB.

Operate within a sensitive, highly regulated environment.

Skills

& Experience Post‑secondary diploma or degree in communications, journalism or equivalent experience. Minimum of eight years experience in corporate communications or a related industry within a complex, dynamic environment. Excellent written and oral English communication skills; fluency in French and/or Spanish is an asset. Strong project‑management skills and accountability for quality and timely completion.

Experience

in media relations and issues management; knowledge of the Canadian media landscape. Ability to create innovative communication solutions across channels (print, web, visual media, SharePoint, social media). Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment and able to remain calm under pressure. Meticulous attention to detail and strong organisational and planning skills.

Capacity to balance multiple priorities, work independently and build relationships with senior decision‑makers. Commitment to personal growth and continuous learning.
