Senior Software Developer – CarteNav – St. John's, NL CarteNav Solutions, a PAL company, is an international leader in situational awareness solutions for maritime, land, and air environments, serving government, military, and commercial customers. Job Summary We are seeking a Senior Software Developer with expertise in Angular, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, reactive programming, and secure API design to develop full‑stack applications and provide Tier 3 support. This role focuses on building scalable, secure, data‑driven applications while collaborating with operations and support teams to ensure production reliability and high system availability. Duties and Responsibilities Application Development: Design, develop, test, and maintain web applications using Angular (frontend) and Spring Boot (backend). Build and consume RESTful APIs, ensuring best practices in security and performance. Apply data‑driven and reactive programming principles to create responsive, scalable applications. System Integration and Architecture: Containerize applications with Docker to ensure environment consistency. Collaborate with infrastructure teams on Kubernetes container orchestration. Integrate OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect for secure authentication and authorization workflows. Support and Reliability (Tier 3): Act as a Tier 3 escalation point for complex issues requiring expert investigation and resolution. Work with DevOps and development teams to analyze metrics, troubleshoot production issues, and improve logging and alerting mechanisms. Collaboration and Communication: Translate business and user requirements into high‑quality technical solutions. Collaborate closely with cross‑functional teams (DevOps, QA, Product) to deliver end‑to‑end functionality. Contribute to code reviews, architectural discussions, and documentation. Required Qualifications 5–10 years of hands‑on experience in software development with modern web technologies. Proficiency in Angular (TypeScript), Spring Boot (Java), Docker. Solid understanding of Kubernetes operations and concepts. Experience with data‑driven design and reactive programming (e.g., Project Reactor, RxJS). Proficiency in RESTful API design and consumption. Knowledge of OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect. Understanding of geo‑spatial concepts and working with geo‑spatial databases. Familiarity with DevOps practices, including observability tools (metrics, logging, alerting). Ability to interpret business needs and translate them into technical requirements. Proficient with Git and related version‑control workflows. Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English. Nice to Have Experience with cloud hosting platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP). Understanding of various OIDC flows and use cases. Familiarity with video streaming (live and on‑demand) in web browsers.
