About the role: The Routing organization is building one of Samsara’s most ambitious mobile experiences, designed to support the daily workflows of drivers in the field and help them stay safe, efficient, and on track. This is a deeply technical problem space that blends real-time data, thoughtful UX, and platform-wide coordination to create a seamless experience under challenging conditions, like poor connectivity, dynamic job schedules, and constantly changing routes. We’re looking for engineers who want to work closely with the customer, move fast, and shape the future of Samsara’s Driver App. You’ll join a team that values quality, performance, and impact - and you’ll help deliver a product that’s critical to the success of our customers’ operations and the safety of their teams. This is a full-time remote position open to candidates residing in Canada . This position requires travel up to 10% of the time and proximity to an international airport. In this role, you will: Develop and maintain high-performance mobile applications for iOS and Android, delivering complex features at enterprise scale. Design and implement polished, user-friendly UI components with a focus on accessibility and consistency across platforms, ensuring an excellent mobile user experience. Profile and optimize application performance and responsiveness by identifying bottlenecks, reducing render times, and improving memory usage, resulting in smooth and stable app behavior on all supported devices. Integrate with native iOS/Android modules and APIs when needed by leveraging bridging capabilities to unlock platform-specific functionality. Collaborate closely with product managers, designers, and backend engineers to plan and build new mobile features, ensuring code quality through peer reviews, robust testing, and adherence to mobile development best practices. Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices. Minimum requirements for the role: 6+ years of software development experience 4+ years of hands-on mobile app development experience Strong track record of performance tuning in mobile apps, including the use of profiling tools and techniques to diagnose and resolve performance issues Hands-on experience ensuring mobile app accessibility compliance, applying best practices so that the app is usable by all customers Solid testing and debugging skills in a mobile context – experience writing unit and integration tests, and utilizing continuous integration pipelines to maintain app stability and quality An ideal candidate also has: Proven experience creating native modules with native iOS and Android code (Objective-C/Swift and Java/Kotlin) Familiarity with geospatial or mapping technologies such as Mapbox or Google Maps SDK Domain experience in logistics, fleet management, or industrial IoT Background in native mobile development (Swift/Objective-C and Kotlin/Java) The range of annual base salary for full-time employees for this position is below.
