Overview Wills and Estates Law Clerk and Legal Assistant for a mid-size law firm client, North York. Job Type: Full-Time Permanent. Target Compensation: From $60,000 to $75,000, with some flexibility according to experience, plus benefits. Existing Vacancy: Yes. Regular Work Hours: 7 hours per day not including 1 hour lunch break, to be worked during regular business hours, Monday to Friday (35 work hours per week). Work Location: Hybrid - combination of 2 days remote-based and 3 days onsite at client\'s North York office, with free parking provided. Work to be completed 100% onsite during probationary period. Onsite work expectations subject always to client business requirements, and may change according to client business need. Responsibilities Draft wills, powers of attorney, and estate planning documents from precedents and written and verbal instructions. Prepare and file probate and administration applications. Review and organize estate information, including assets, liabilities, and beneficiary details. Correspond with clients, executors, beneficiaries, financial institutions, and court staff. Manage file deadlines, critical dates, and related documentation with minimal supervision. Prepare estate accounting and reporting, including interim and final accounts. Maintain and organize electronic and physical files in accordance with firm procedures. Work closely with lawyers and clients to ensure smooth and compassionate handling of sensitive matters. Additional law clerk and legal administrative responsibilities as required. Qualifications Education: Law Clerk Diploma from an accredited institution. Professional Credentials: Institute of Law Clerks of Ontario (ILCO) Certification. Preferred Work Experience: Approximately 5+ years of experience in Wills and Estates law. Sector Experience: Law firm experience required. Technical and Language Skills Requirements: Strong proficiency in MSWord, Outlook and Teams (will be tested). Fast and accurate typing speed (will be tested). Proficiency with Estateably and Teraview. Advanced English written and reading comprehension skills, including advanced level business writing skills, excellent spelling, grammar, proofreading and syntax (will be tested). Strong English verbal communication skills, with polished, professional telephone manners. Verbal fluency in additional language(s) an asset. Task -Based Qualifications and Additional Attributes: Strong understanding of Ontario estate procedures and relevant legislation (may be tested). Punctual, responsible, and reliable. Demonstrated record of professional conduct and character. Focused and able to work effectively with minimal direction and supervision, to prioritize tasks effectively, and to manage volume targets and due dates. Proven ability to respond to sensitive and confidential matters with tact, discretion, and excellent judgement in the interpretation and application of instructions and organization policy. Superior attention to detail, and organized, methodical approach to completion of tasks. Demonstrated ability to work well both independently and collaboratively and liaise effectively with a wide and diverse range of professional contacts, both internal and external. Demonstrated successful experience of prioritizing work, making decisions and communicating with others within a values framework of respect, equity, anti-racism, diversity and inclusivity. Additional Requirements Must be legally entitled to work in Canada, providing satisfactory documentation upon request. Ability to work both remotely and onsite, abiding by organization health and safety policies. Ability to promptly provide minimum of 2 qualified employment references upon request who are available to speak with either Marberg or Marberg\'s client.
