About This Role Our Engineering organization owns the software that makes our marketplace work. The Platform group enables cross-functional teams (Product Engineering, Data Science, Product Management, Strategy, Analytics, Finance, etc.) by providing scalable infrastructure and developer-friendly tools. We care about good engineering practices, security, testability, maintenance, and the ability to scale to millions of users. Teams The Data Infrastructure team builds and operates a secure, reliable, cost-efficient data platform for ingestion, storage, compute, orchestration, and governance. The Analytics Platform team builds capabilities to accelerate data-driven analytics and improve productivity and accuracy, reducing time from data to insights. Cost-efficient storage for batch and streaming across multiple compute engines Optimized compute environments and workflow orchestration ETL and ELT pipelines Data ingestion and warehousing Monitoring, alerting, and cost tracking for workloads Automation of analytics functions Data security, privacy, and governance We also own relationships with select infrastructure vendors. What You’ll Do Plan and execute technology projects that scale with our growth; contribute to our architecture with a focus on data integrity, security, performance, scale, reliability, monitoring and alerting. Engage with team planning and prioritization, balancing urgent and near-term needs with long-term goals. Provide technical guidance and mentorship on difficult open-ended problems. Qualifications Strong Python skills and experience. Experience developing and operating data streaming, batch, ETL/ELT, orchestration, storage, compute, and workflow systems. Experience building reliable, scalable data pipelines, data movement orchestration, querying, transformation, and analytics engineering workflows. Data warehousing experience at petabyte scale. Understanding of performance, capacity, and cost trade-offs in data processing systems. Snowflake experience is highly valuable. Experience diagnosing, mitigating, and addressing production data system issues at scale. Strong communication skills. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science/Software Engineering or equivalent experience. Experience with AWS, Snowflake, Airflow, Spark, Python, Kotlin. Salary Range Canada: the pay range for this role is $156,000 - $214,500 per year. This role is eligible for equity and benefits. Base pay is determined based on factors such as transferable skills, experience, market demand, and location. The range may change over time.
