Our client is in the location information management business. They enable their clients with the data products, technology and professional services required to harness the benefits of location intelligence. They have a blue‑chip customer base composed of Fortune 1000 and government accounts. Job Summary and Essential Functions The successful candidate will work closely with product management to understand the business requirements. Using their strong analytical and development skills they will design, code and unit test key functionality for the product within agreed timelines. They will also be responsible for the timely completion of any development artifacts such as a functional specification, or high level and detailed design documents. They will develop within an architecture that provides functionality via web services, combined with high performance in terms of response time and data volume. The candidate may be required to work closely with customers to provide technical support for products and to understand detailed requirements. They will demonstrate initiative and commitment in delivering compelling solutions that provide real value to the customer, and generate strong revenue. In so doing they will have a balanced approach to technical elegance combined with return on investment and time to market. Adaptability to changing business demand and technologies will also be critical, including the ability to switch between rapid development of proof‑of‑concept initiatives, and more rigorous high‑quality product development. Some travel will be required, mostly within Canada but the candidate should be able to travel internationally if required. Qualifications Languages: C# Enterprise Web Services Experience (SOAP, REST, etc.) Microsoft .Net platforms Database knowledge: development and admin on Oracle or SQL Server OS: Windows You must have experience developing enterprise software for a small or medium sized software company. In addition, you must have enterprise web services experience and an understanding of n‑tier application development and SDLC. Desirable additional skills Oracle Spatial experience is particularly desirable. Experience with alternative map viewer technologies is highly desirable (GIS, arcGIS, Mapinfo, ESRI) Configuration management Build management (automated) Knowledge of PostgreSQL Education and Certification Bachelors in Computer Engineering, or Computer Science. Master’s preferred. Success Factors Strong analysis, design and development skills. Ability to work individually and a strong team player, ability to adapt to changing technology and market demands. Self‑motivated, responsible and accountable for timely completion of all deliverables with high degree of quality. Experience and competence with formal SDLC methodologies including Agile.
