What you’ll be doing As the Sr. Data Analyst, Client Investment Risk, you will support the Senior Director and Directors of Client Investment Risk by consolidating information for reports and presentations required for governance committees, assisting in overseeing risks related to CIBC’s full-service brokerage, direct investing and retail investment activities, and identifying and mitigating investment risks across portfolios managed by CIBC Asset Management and CIBC Trust. You will develop and maintain dashboards and databases to support risk metric reporting, manage team trackers and documentation, and ensure effective communication and coordination. How you’ll succeed Compliance: adhere to all applicable CIBC and Line of Business policies, standards, guidelines and controls. Change: recommend changes to business processes to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. Analysis: provide meaningful analysis of investment risk subjects. Relationship Management: interact regularly with Wealth Management businesses and partners such as Legal, Compliance, Internal Audit and Global Operational Risk Management. Governance Committee Reporting and Presentation: consolidate information for reports and presentations to support active participation in key governance committees. Asset Management and Trust Investment Risk Oversight: monitor and evaluate the performance and risk of CIBC Asset Management and CIBC Trust portfolios. Risk Data Integration, Management, and Reporting Automation: develop robust dashboards and databases, extract and load data from multiple sources into SQL Server, build dashboards using Power BI, and automate processes with Python and SQL. Who you are You have an undergraduate degree in business or a related discipline. Advancement towards CFA, CIPM, PRM, or FRM is an asset. You are client‑focused, detail‑oriented, and have strong critical thinking skills. You can demonstrate experience in SQL, VBA, Python, database management, advanced Excel, and visualization tools such as Tableau or Power BI. You possess knowledge of Wealth Management businesses, Modern Portfolio Theory, performance attribution, financial markets, and the Canadian investment regulatory environment. You have an analytical mindset and can synthesize large amounts of data. You have superior verbal and written communication skills for conveying complex information.
