Electrical Engineer

Provides consulting services requiring electrical engineering expertise for commercial, retail, and high-rise residential buildings. May be responsible for project management and technical oversight of multiple projects. Evaluates and reviews design and field engineering changes; ensures work quality and adherence to specifications; and performs related duties as assigned. Essential Job Functions The Electrical Designer role reports directly to a principal within the company and will be responsible for projects and working with a team of other Engineers and designers. Applying knowledge of electrical systems and designs for commercial, retail, and high-rise residential buildings. Coordinating with disciplines internally, as well as externally with Consultants/Architects. Conducting and attending site visits and preparing site reports. Applying AutoCAD knowledge. Required Education and Certifications Post-secondary degree or diploma from an Electrical Engineering or Electrical Engineering Technology program (or similar/related). Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar/relevant position. Educational background focusing on Electrical Design in building systems. Required Skills and Abilities Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Outlook, Work, and Excel. Knowledge of Electrical Systems and Designs for commercial, retail, and high-rise residential buildings. Experience coordinating with disciplines internally as well as externally with Consultants /Architects. Experience conducting and attending site visits, as well as preparing site reports. Excellent command of the English language. The selected candidate will be working in a professional and friendly environment. Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel Requirements Physical Demands - Work is performed in an office setting and at outdoor field locations (i.e., Client’s office, industrial, construction, and/or residential sites). The employee is frequently required to walk through properties (i.e., commercial and residential) for full and proper assessment of electrical-related damage. Employees must also stand, walk on slope roofs, sit, climb ladders, bend, climb inside attics and crawl under homes and tunnels, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, talk, hear, and drive a motor vehicle to job sites. The employee will be required to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. The employee must be sharp, focused, and alert when conducting site inspections, speaking and interacting with clients, preparing written reports of findings, and testifying in deposition or trial. Clear vision and depth perception are also necessary.Overtime - There will be periods where overtime will be required, which the employee will need to comply with to meet the demands of the position.
