We are seeking a dedicated and proactive HSE Specialist to join our team in Quebec, Canada. This role is crucial to ensuring that our renewable energy projects meet the highest standards of health, safety, and environmental protection. As part of the team, you will be responsible for overseeing HSE compliance, promoting a safety-first culture, and ensuring the overall well-being of our employees, contractors, and stakeholders. The ideal candidate will be passionate about renewable energy, proactive in identifying and mitigating risks, and experienced in HSE management systems.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Health, Safety & Environmental Management : Develop, implement, and monitor HSE policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Canadian laws, company standards, and industry best practices.
  • Risk Assessment & Mitigation : Conduct regular site inspections and risk assessments to identify potential hazards and ensure proper control measures are in place.
  • Training & Awareness : Provide training sessions and safety briefings for employees and contractors, ensuring they are aware of safety procedures and environmental considerations.
  • Incident Investigation & Reporting : Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions to prevent reoccurrence. Prepare incident reports for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Regulatory Compliance : Ensure compliance with local, provincial, and federal regulations related to health, safety, and the environment, including the Quebec Environment Quality Act and the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • HSE Documentation : Maintain accurate records of safety inspections, environmental audits, incidents, and training. Ensure all documentation is up-to-date and readily available for internal and external audits.
  • Continuous Improvement : Promote a culture of continuous improvement by reviewing and recommending improvements to HSE practices, policies, and tools.
  • Emergency Preparedness : Develop, implement, and test emergency response plans, ensuring all personnel are familiar with procedures in the event of a workplace emergency.
  • Sustainability Focus : Support the company's commitment to sustainability by ensuring environmental practices and renewable energy projects adhere to environmental protection standards.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in HSE management within the renewable energy, construction, or industrial sectors.
  • Strong knowledge of HSE regulations, standards, and best practices in Canada, particularly in Quebec.
  • Experience in risk assessment, incident investigation, and emergency response planning.
  • Proven ability to conduct safety training and ensure that employees understand and adhere to HSE practices.
  • Certification in HSE (e.g., CRSP, NEBOSH, ISO 45001) is a plus.
  • Knowledge of renewable energy technologies and a passion for sustainability is highly desirable.
  • Bilingual in French and English (both written and spoken) is required.
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a cross-functional team.
