Hydrologist – GradCorps Internship (1-Year Term) This one-year internship, for a term from approximately March 2026 to March 2027, offers a Yukon public service opportunity for recent graduates with a post-secondary diploma or degree in physical sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, data or computer sciences, or a related field. The role focuses on strengthening the Yukon Government’s flood-forecasting and monitoring programme: data analysis, reporting for the Water Resources Branch, and support for data-process implementation. Essential Qualifications A diploma or degree in physical sciences, engineering, environmental sciences, data or computer sciences, or a related field of study. Course work, and work or project experience related to water resource sciences (e.g., hydrology, meteorology, hydrogeology), natural resource management, statistics, data analysis and management, and field sampling techniques. Experience with software or programming languages for large environmental data (e.g., R, Python, SQL) and/or hydrological or hydraulic modelling (e.g., Raven, SUMA, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS). Desired Knowledge, Skills and Suitability Data input, analysis, and interpretation skills. Ability to conduct technical research and projects. Strong oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate information (reports, summaries, presentations). Strong collaboration and interpersonal skills; the position will be in a team environment in office and field. Ability to manage time and projects, and problem-solve in a high-paced, event-driven setting. Ability to participate in field trips to remote locations (ATV or snowmobile travel, rotary or fixed-wing aircraft). Additional Information Conditions of Employment: Class 5 Yukon Drivers’ License. Job Requirements: Field work in all weather conditions and remote areas; lifting of heavy objects; travel via ATV, boat, snowmobiles, helicopters, and small planes. Eligibility Resident of Yukon or a person of Yukon First Nations ancestry. Graduated with a diploma or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution within the past two years (2024, 2025 or 2026 grads – all requirements for graduation must be completed before internship start date). Little or no work experience in your field of study. If you are a Yukon resident who completed studies outside the territory, you may apply up to two years after graduation.
