To learn more about CIBC, please visit CIBC.com What you’ll be doing Credit Risk Management works with its partners to understand, measure and monitor risk and adhere to CIBC's quality and concentration policies in order to maintain a risk profile that is consistent with the CIBC Risk Appetite Statement. The Director, Commercial Credit will form an integral part of the Regional Credit Eastern Canada. In this role, the incumbent will be responsible for adjudicating credit applications from Quebec and the Atlantic regions within their delegated lending authority, managing a portfolio of diversified regional independent business and mid-market commercial loans, coaching and mentoring less experienced team members, and partnering with Commercial Banking officers through regular dialogue, consultation, and periodic visits. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote. How You’ll Succeed Credit Adjudication – Adjudicate credit applications for Commercial Banking clients within a designated portfolio and lending authority. Portfolio Management - Proactively manage a credit portfolio of diversified Commercial Banking clients through sound financial and non-financial analysis as well as an understanding of emerging trends within the regional economic, industry and business environments. Relationship Building – Make an impact by developing strong relationships with internal partners, external intermediaries and industry associations. Team Building - Provide mentoring, advice, and guidance on credit risk matters to internal partners and less experienced team members. Who You Are You can demonstrate experience in and expert knowledge of commercial business and credit practices in order to assess different customer requirements, and effectively sort and prioritize relevant risk factors. You have a degree/diploma in Business/Finance/Accounting, MBA or equivalent. Proficiency in Fundamental Financial Skills for Commercial Lending. You are calm under pressure, able to balance priorities in a complex decision environment, and marshal and motivate team resources in challenging times. You are a problem solver, drawing support from experience and networks, to forward business and team objectives. Your influence makes an impact.
