Network Operations Engineer

Overview The Network Operations Engineer is a hands‑on role within the Network Operations Team to manage, monitor and support the network infrastructure and services. The position includes incident resolution, customer request implementation, project delivery, service improvement proposals and junior team mentorship. Responsibilities Respond quickly and effectively to network issues, incidents and outages. Resolve up to 3rd‑line network incident support calls. Work on assigned incidents, change requests and project tasks. Mentor junior team members. Evaluate network change requests. Perform network device maintenance and upgrade tasks. Use and configure network monitoring tools to identify and address issues before service degradation or an outage. Update technical documentation, network diagrams, processes and procedures as needed. Comply with operational processes and SOPs. Provide on‑call support on weekends based on the on‑call shift roster. Keep abreast of developments in networking and network monitoring. Identify opportunities for service improvement via automation or procedural change. Support datacenter tasks, incidents and firmware upgrade for Nexus and Catalyst switches. Commission and decommission network devices. Visit datacenter sites to provide hands‑on support based on business requirements. Coordinate with ISPs to resolve link outage incidents. Occasional travel to user sites based on business requirements. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in IT or a related field. 8 years of relevant experience supporting network infrastructure in a large organization. CCNA or CCNP certifications. Hands‑on Experience Cisco Catalyst and Nexus switching technologies Cisco ASR and ISR routing platforms BGP and OSPF Wireless LAN technologies Knowledge of network monitoring & reporting tools Advantage Extreme wireless platform. Velocloud SDWAN. SolarWinds. Thousand Eyes. Cisco ISE. Microsoft NPS.
