Intact Financial is hiring a full-time Specialist, Risk Control for its loss prevention team. The role follows a hybrid work model and is listed in Calgary, Alberta, with another location also noted.
Compensation and benefits
Annual salary range: $118,700-$145,100, based on a 35-hour workweek. The role also has a 15% annual bonus target, with potential payout up to double the target, subject to personal and company performance.

Responsibilities
- Develop and implement departmental standards and guidelines.
- Provide loss prevention consultations and develop farm-industry risk control practices or tailored service plans.
- Collaborate with national loss prevention teams and support underwriting, marketing, and claims teams.
- Review internal risk assessment reports and support service improvements.
- Share industry knowledge and support team learning through assessments and training.
Qualifications
- At least 10 years of progressive experience in the property and casualty insurance industry.
- Strong property risk control experience in energy specialties, including power generation, mining, chemicals, oil and gas, or renewable energy.
- Knowledge of applicable fire protection and building codes and standards, Factory Mutual data sheets, consequence risk modelling, loss estimation, and water-based fire protection systems.
- Experience reviewing third-party risk control and engineering reports.
- A degree in engineering, technical engineering, or related sciences is preferred, or equivalent experience. A Professional Engineer designation is an asset.
- CIP and CRM courses, equipment risk control experience, and English-French bilingualism are assets.
