Command marine vessels using navigation instruments and charts while working onsite on the water at various locations. Support safe cargo transport and deck operations.
This Second Mate position requires nautical science or merchant marine officer education and one to less than two years of experience. You will operate vessels for passengers and cargo, supervise deck crews, and maintain navigational equipment. The work setting includes moving cargo, marine operations, and a gas distribution company.
Key Responsibilities:
- Command and operate ships transporting passengers and cargo
- Supervise and coordinate deck crew activities
- Determine position using instruments, maps, and charts
- Direct cargo loading and unloading operations
- Record progress, weather, and sea conditions
Requirements:
- Nautical science or merchant marine officer education
- Other trades certificate or diploma
- One to less than two years of experience
- English language proficiency
- Ability to work offshore or at sea
