Government and Payer Relations Lead - Shape the Future of Specialty Healthcare


The Government & Payer Relations Lead builds and leverages senior relationships across provincial and private payers, Indigenous health organizations, and key stakeholders to shape funding approaches, unlock partnership and contracting opportunities, and expand how services are supported within the healthcare system. Grounded in a strong understanding of policy, reimbursement, and payer dynamics, the role aligns external expectations with commercial priorities to drive new growth opportunities and strengthen the organization’s position within evolving funding models.

Your Mission:


• Identify and advance new revenue opportunities by evolving funding approaches, developing payer partnerships, and shaping innovative commercial models.


• Lead strategic discussions with payers and partners to define funding structures and coverage approaches that support sustainable growth.


• Leverage payer trends, reimbursement models, and market dynamics to inform business development priorities and long-term strategy.


• Build and maintain senior relationships with provincial and private payers, PPNs, Indigenous health organizations, and government stakeholders.


• Represent the organization in key discussions and industry forums to strengthen presence and influence funding and partnership opportunities.


• Act as a strategic partner to external stakeholders, aligning service offerings with evolving priorities and identifying mutually beneficial solutions.


• Maintain a forward-looking view of the policy and payer landscape, assess implications of changes, and translate insights into clear actions and recommendations.


• Partner across legal, finance, clinical, operations, and commercial teams to align payer strategy, address reimbursement challenges, and support execution.


• Provide concise, actionable updates to leadership on payer engagement, funding developments, and emerging risks or opportunities.


What You Bring to the Table:


• Bachelor’s degree in health sciences, business, public policy, or a related field; an advanced degree (e.g., MBA, MHA, MPH) is considered an asset.


• 5–10 years of experience in payer relations, government affairs, market access, or a related healthcare role.


• Demonstrated experience working directly with payers, healthcare organizations, or government stakeholders in Canada.


• Proven ability to support partnership development, funding discussions, or commercial initiatives within a complex healthcare environment.


• Established relationships across provincial and/or private payers, PPNs, and broader Canadian healthcare networks, with the ability to engage effectively at a senior level.


• Strong stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with experience shaping funding approaches and navigating complex payer environments.
