Associate Director of Development

Overview The Associate Director, Development is a key member of Lauremont School’s Development team, supporting the growth of a strong culture of philanthropy and the school’s pipeline of leadership and major gift donors.
Reporting to the Director of Development, the Associate Director manages a portfolio of mid-level and emerging major gift prospects and donors, leading relationship-building, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship activities. The role also supports the planning and execution of the school’s Annual Fund, with a focus on identifying and moving Annual Fund donors into deeper philanthropic engagement.
This is a highly relationship-oriented, donor-facing position that works closely with the Director of Development, Executive Director of Community Development, Head of School, volunteers and other members of the Community Development team.
Key Responsibilities and Tasks Mid-Level & Major Gifts (60%)
Manage a personal portfolio of mid-level, leadership and emerging major gift donors and prospects.
Identify, qualify, cultivate, solicit and steward donors within the portfolio.
Develop individualized strategies to advance prospects through the fundraising cycle.
Build strong, long-term relationships with parents, alumni, grandparents, past parents and other members of the Lauremont community.
Lead solicitations within an assigned gift range in consultation with the Director of Development and, where appropriate, senior school leadership.
Identify opportunities to upgrade existing donors and transition Annual Fund donors into leadership and major gift prospects.
Support the Director of Development with cultivation and solicitation strategies for higher-capacity prospects.
Annual Fund (25%)
Support the Director of Development in the planning and execution of the school’s Annual Fund.
Manage designated components of the Annual Fund, including targeted appeals, donor communications, outreach and stewardship.
Analyze Annual Fund results and identify prospects for leadership and major gifts.
Donor Stewardship & Prospect Development
Ensure donors receive timely, thoughtful and personalized acknowledgment and stewardship.
Support donor recognition, engagement and stewardship activities throughout the year.
Conduct prospect identification and qualification using Raiser’s Edge and other available research tools.
Maintain accurate portfolio assignments, contact reports, prospect ratings and next steps.
Track portfolio activity and prepare regular reports on donor activity, solicitations, revenue and progress against goals.
Collaboration & Community Engagement
Work collaboratively with the Director of Development and broader Community Development team to create a coordinated donor experience.
Build strong relationships with trustees, parent volunteers, alumni and other community ambassadors.
Help foster a culture in which philanthropy is understood as an important part of the Lauremont community.
Represent Lauremont professionally and enthusiastically at school and community events.
Education, Experience & Qualifications
Post-secondary degree in fundraising, communications, business, marketing, education or a related field.
3–5 years of progressive fundraising or development experience, ideally including mid-level or major gifts.
Demonstrated experience managing a portfolio of donors and prospects.
Experience supporting or managing an Annual Fund or annual giving program.
Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to establish authentic relationships with a diverse range of donors and community members.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to develop compelling donor correspondence and p
