Senior Financial Analyst (Finance Department) – Firmwide

Job Summary

Reporting to the Manager, Finance, the Senior Financial Analyst (also referred to as “SFA”) is responsible for coordinating and performing complex tax compliance, reporting, and analytical activities across the Firm. The role supports partnership accounting, partner admissions and compensation processes, and other finance initiatives. The SFA conducts research, identifies risks and inconsistencies, recommends appropriate accounting or tax treatments and process improvements, and supports the automation and standardization of Firm‑Wide finance processes.

In addition to their subject matter expertise in tax and compliance, the role requires a natural curiosity focus on continuous improvement, a self‑sufficient, detail‑driven professional who takes full ownership of their deliverables, anticipates needs, responds to business requests promptly, and hands in work that is complete, accurate and ready for review.

Work Environment

As part of the Firm‑wide Finance team, this role can be located in any of the Canadian cities that Fasken has offices (Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, Calgary, Tsuut’ina Nations, Vancouver, Surrey). This role will be hybrid with occasional requirements as per business needs for onsite office collaboration and support. The successful candidate must live in or around their regional office and be able to commute to the office as often as required.

Hours of work are from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.. Occasional pre‑authorised overtime may be required to meet business needs. Flexibility may also be required within the Firm’s core business hours on occasion to meet the needs of other region’s time zones.

Primary Responsibilities

Tax Preparation and Reporting

  • Monitor and support the Firm’s compliance with partnership, commodity, and corporate tax requirements, and support the preparation and timely completion of related filings
  • Prepare partnership annual tax returns and related filings, including T5013 & RL15 reporting, and coordinate their review and submission
