Assignment Description
We are currently seeking an experienced
Rig Supervisor
to support offshore drilling operations for a major oil & gas client in Newfoundland & Labrador. The Rig Supervisor will provide operational leadership and oversight of drilling and well operations, ensuring activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with company procedures, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. This is a
21 days on / 21 days off offshore rotational position . Key Responsibilities
Provide day-to-day supervision and leadership of offshore rig and drilling operations. Ensure drilling activities are carried out safely, efficiently, and in accordance with approved programs and procedures. Lead and coordinate rig crews, contractors, and service providers. Monitor drilling operations and identify potential operational, safety, or equipment issues. Ensure compliance with company HSE policies, offshore regulations, and applicable industry standards. Conduct pre-job meetings, toolbox talks, safety meetings, and operational briefings. Coordinate with Drilling & Wells, Marine, Production, Maintenance, Logistics, and other offshore functions. Monitor well control activities and ensure appropriate procedures are followed. Support planning and execution of drilling, completion, workover, and related well operations as required. Review daily operational reports and communicate progress, challenges, and performance to onshore management. Ensure rig equipment and systems are operated and maintained within required standards. Participate in incident investigations, risk assessments, audits, and emergency response activities. Promote a strong safety culture and demonstrate visible safety leadership offshore. Ensure work is properly planned, risk assessed, and executed in accordance with permit-to-work requirements. Provide mentorship and guidance to rig personnel and junior supervisors. Support continuous improvement initiatives to improve operational efficiency, safety, and reliability. Qualifications & Experience
Significant offshore drilling experience in a
Rig Supervisor / Senior Rig Supervisor / Drilling Supervisor
capacity. Strong background in offshore oil & gas drilling operations. Experience supervising multi-disciplinary rig crews and offshore contractors. Demonstrated knowledge of drilling operations, well control, rig equipment, and offshore safety practices. Experience working on offshore drilling units such as
semi-submersibles, drillships, or jack-up rigs
is preferred. Strong understanding of applicable offshore regulatory requirements and industry standards. Proven leadership, communication, and decision-making skills. Ability to work effectively in a high-pressure, safety-critical offshore environment. Previous experience in Atlantic Canada or similar offshore operating environments is considered an asset. Certifications & Requirements
Current
Well Control certification
appropriate to the position. Valid
BOSIET/FOET
or equivalent offshore safety certification. Valid offshore medical certification. H2S certification or equivalent, as applicable. Additional offshore survival, emergency response, and safety certifications as required. Must be legally eligible to work in Canada. Ability to work a
21/21 offshore rotational schedule .
