Position Type: Part-Time / After-School & Weekdays Programs

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic, hands-on STEAM Educator to inspire and lead young minds (ages 5–14) through interactive, project-based learning. In this role, you will facilitate engaging after-school programs, weekend workshops, and camps focusing on 3D Pen creation, Scratch 3.0 visual coding, and introductory robotics.

The ideal candidate brings technical curiosity, structured classroom management, and a passion for making science, technology, engineering, arts, and math fun and accessible.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Instruction & Facilitation: Lead interactive STEAM classes, guiding students step-by-step through 3D Pen design projects, block-based game development in Scratch, and hands-on robotics builds (mechanisms, gear ratios, and sensor integration).
  • Classroom Management: Maintain an encouraging, safe, and structured environment where students feel confident experimenting, troubleshooting, and learning from trial and error.
  • Technical Setup & Hardware Care: Prepare materials before each session, maintain hardware (3D pens, microcontrollers, robotics kits, laptops), and ensure proper cleanup and storage.
  • Student Mentorship: Differentiate instruction to support various skill levels guiding beginners through fundamentals while challenging advanced students with extended design or logic tasks.

Key Qualifications

Demonstrated Technical Skills:

  • 3D Design & Art: Proficiency with 3D pens (extrusion techniques, structural stability, multi-part assembly).
  • Visual Programming: Strong working knowledge of Scratch 3.0 (events, variables, loops, conditional logic, sprites, broadcast messaging).
  • Robotics: Practical experience building and troubleshooting educational robotics kits, motor controls, and basic sensors. (e.g., ultrasonic, color/light sensors).
  • Teaching / Facilitation Experience: 1+ years experience working with children in a classroom, after-school program, camp, or workshop setting.
  • Troubleshooting Mindset: Quick to diagnose and fix basic hardware/software issues (e.g., jammed 3D pens, Bluetooth connection drops, logical bugs in Scratch).
  • Communication: Strong verbal communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts using simple, age-appropriate language.

Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills

  • Experience with physical computing or microcontrollers (Arduino, ESP32, or Micro:bit).
  • Familiarity with 3D modeling/printing basics or vector art.
  • Background or active studies in Engineering, Computer Science, Education, or a related field.
