Take the lead in commercial legal support at Maple Leaf Foods. This role emphasizes negotiating contracts and overseeing enterprise risk management while promoting compliance with the Grocery Code of Conduct. As Commercial Counsel, you will head the commercial contracting team and collaborate with senior leaders to deliver high-quality, timely legal advice. Your expertise in contracts, legal operations, and enterprise risk will ensure effective negotiation and resolution of disputes, helping to drive our vision forward. This position requires familiarity with using AI in legal workflows. Key Responsibilities:
- Lead enterprise commercial legal processes and training
- Negotiate and oversee commercial contracts with stakeholders
- Manage key disputes and oversee external counsel
- Maintain sophisticated ERM frameworks and periodic assessments
- Facilitate compliance with the Grocery Code of Conduct
- Law Society of Ontario membership or eligibility
- Significant experience in commercial contracting
- Proven capabilities in legal operations and risk management
- Experience providing practical advice to senior executives
- Strong interest in AI and automation solutions
