Grade 8-9 Mandarin Teacher

Newbridge Academy is seeking an enthusiastic and engaging Mandarin Teacher to join our team for the upcoming school year.

We are a small, bilingual independent school in South Surrey committed to providing students with a warm, supportive learning environment and meaningful language instruction. Our small class sizes allow teachers to build strong relationships with students and create highly interactive lessons.

Position Details

• Schedule: Tuesday and Thursday, 1:50 p.m. – 3:20 p.m.
• Hours: 3 hours per week
• Compensation: $30-35/hour
• Start Date: September 2026

Responsibilities

• Teach two 90-minute Mandarin classes Tuesday and Thursday to students in Grades 8-9.
• Classes may include combined grade groupings depending on enrolment.
• Plan and deliver engaging, age-appropriate lessons that foster confidence in speaking, listening, reading, and writing Mandarin.
• Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of students with varying language abilities.
• Collaborate with classroom teachers and administration to support student learning.

Qualifications

• Fluency in Mandarin and strong English communication skills.
• Experience working with both native Mandarin speakers and Mandarin as a Second Language learners is considered a strong asset.
• A creative, energetic, and student-centred approach to teaching.
• Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
• Eligibility to work in Canada.
